Kate Andreyev
Arise Tutor
Kate Andreyev’s love of Spanish and French began with family holidays when she was a child and developed at secondary school as she was taught by excellent Modern Languages teachers, one of whom was a Christian, and who made made a great impression on her. She then read Spanish and French at the University of Oxford, which also allowed her to study great works of literature by some of the most celebrated writers in the French and Spanish speaking world.

As a student, Kate Andreyev had the opportunity to spend time as a language assistant at a secondary school in Madrid, where she enjoyed working with young people, took a language course in Montpelier, and put her French to good use by working in a hotel in the French-speaking canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
After a year of a publishing job in London for a literacy development agency, she decided that she still wanted to teach, so she completed a PGCE at the University of Manchester to teach French and Spanish up to A-level. After completing her PGCE, she was offered a job as a French and Spanish teacher at Repton School in Derbyshire, where she gained experience teaching classes at KS3, GCSE, AS level, A level, and university entrance. This is where she developed a strategic approach with her students in approaching public exams so that they achieved their potential and encouraged them to aim for excellence.
More About Kate
During her time teaching at the boarding school, she met her husband at the local church where she was a member. Although she had been involved in the Christian meetings and Bible studies at the school where she taught, it wasn’t until she had children of her own that she really thought about and started to understand the importance of Christian education.
Kate says, “For the Christian, education only truly makes sense and brings joy when we learn under the Lordship of the one who created and sustains all things, who knows everything, and who loves us more than we can imagine! My two children were home educated all the way through IGCSE, with our younger daughter now studying Spanish and French at A level, and our older daughter reading French at the same university college I attended! I hope that I have managed to inspire them with a love for languages and a desire to use whatever gifts God has given to them for his greater glory. This is my aim for all of my students.”
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father through him.” -Colossians 3:17
