God is a creative God, and we reflect him and his glory when we use our creative skills. In photography, we learn how beauty, goodness, and truth are inseparable. As our culture moves away from a foundation of truth, art holds less meaning and less awe, but from a foundation of truth and goodness, we can produce art that is full of beauty. Reflecting on the order and truth that is inherent in the Christian worldview is a springboard for the creation of art with depth, and that also incidentally carries a message of hope while not shying away from capturing the suffering that is part of the groaning creation and the human condition.

What Is Involved for Parents?
As part of the Bronze Arts Award, students must:
1. Experience Art as an Audience Member; you may need to help facilitate this for them.
They will need to attend an art event and produce a response or analysis, which can take the form of:
- A vlog
- A written response
- A visual/pictorial response
Suitable art events include:
- Photography or painting exhibitions
(This is particularly relevant, as photography and painting from a wide range of artists and genres are discussed in class.) - Museums or galleries
- Plays or theatre productions
- Operas
- Film screenings
- Fashion shows
- An online art experience is also valid if no other experiences are available.
2. Pass Their Skills On To Others – Again, they may need your help to facilitate this.
Students must also demonstrate leadership by sharing the art skills they have learned with others to help someone or a group develop their own art skills. This can be done in several ways:
- If you are part of a home education co-op, your child could run a short photography or art session for other teens. Alternatively, they can gather a group of close family or friends to share their skills with. Â
- If that feels too daunting, they could choose a photography or art skill not yet covered in class and deliver a short presentation to the online class instead (with tutor approval).
While this may feel challenging at first, it is a fantastic opportunity for students to grow in confidence and leadership. Teaching others is one of the best ways to consolidate learning, as it requires a real understanding of the skills involved. You know you have truly mastered something when you are able to teach it to others.Â
3. Purchase the Bronze Award workbook,
Purchase the Bronze workbook book which will cost £10.45 with shipping. You may find it cheaper on places like eBay here. This book will make it easy for your child to organise and demonstrate all their learning they need to do for the art award. This will be their portfolio of work, which they will submit for the award.Â
