iGCSE Chemistry Year 1

For Autumn 2025 Enrolment

In this course, students will begin their journey into the fascinating world of chemistry. Following the Edexcel iGCSE Chemistry syllabus, we will explore the structure of atoms, bonding, the periodic table, chemical reactions, and more.

Throughout the year, students will develop a solid foundation in chemical principles while learning how chemistry impacts everyday life. We will also consider how the complexity and order in chemistry point to the wisdom of our Creator.

This course is also eligible for USA High School Diploma & Transcript credit.  Students successfully completing this course will receive 1 high school science credit.

GCSE Chemistry Year 1 Course Details

In the class, we will complete the GCSE Chemistry Year 1 curriculum over the course of 30 weeks in our live online sessions. Year 2 (planned for 26-27) will cover the remainder of the curriculum.

Day & Time: Mondays 11 am-12:30 pm GMT(Two 40-minute sessions with a short break in between.)

Location: Zoom Meeting

Tutor: Hannah Smith

Required Materials:

• iGCSE Chemistry Studentbook
• This scientific calculator (or similar)

Pre-requisites:  Needs to be confident in maths and working at an iGCSE or equivalent high school level.

iGCSE Chemistry Year 1 Live, Online Class Topics Covered

In our live online class sessions and weekly homework, we will explore:

• chemical reactions,

We will also develop an understanding of the scientific method and how to think like a scientist. We will learn about how discoveries are made and how they are used and can be used for the glory of God.
