Silver Level UK Arts Award Objectives and Outcomes
This course is designed for students who want to take their creativity to the next level and earn the Silver Arts Award. You’ll choose your favorite medium, such as painting, sculpture, photography, music, drama, digital art, or something unique. Then you’ll develop a larger, more independent body of work that shows your skills, vision, and creativity.
Throughout the course, you’ll explore how art can reflect truth, beauty, and the goodness of God’s creation, study inspiring artists, share your work with others, and take leadership in creative projects. By the end of the course, you’ll have a cohesive portfolio, stronger creative confidence, and a nationally recognized qualification
Silver Level UK Arts Award Topics Include:
- Â Independent Creative Project – Plan, develop, and complete a major body of work in your chosen medium. Experiment with techniques, style, and storytelling to express your creative vision.
- Artistic Research and Inspiration – Study the work of other artists (past and present), and explore how worldview, culture, and faith influence creative expression. Reflect on how these ideas can inform and challenge your own work.
- Leadership and Collaboration – Take on a creative leadership role: mentor peers, organize a small exhibition, or contribute to a community arts project. Learn to present your ideas and support the creativity of others.
- Reflection and Portfolio Presentation – Reflect on your artistic journey, the choices you made, and what you learned along the way. Assemble a polished, professional portfolio to submit for the Silver Arts Award, demonstrating growth, skill, and creative insight.
Parents and Students, please note:
- Parents may need to support their child with their leadership project, in addition to what we do in online sessions.Â
- Part of this course will involve sharing your art in class and your thought processes around it. You will also be expected to encourage, comment on, and give feedback to other students. This is harder for some than others, but it is an important part of the growth process. The mutual encouragement and support will be beneficial for all. Â
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
God is a creative God, and we reflect him and his glory when we use our creative skills. In photography, we learn how beauty, goodness, and truth are inseparable. As our culture moves away from a foundation of truth, art holds less meaning and less awe, but from a foundation of truth and goodness, we can produce art that is full of beauty. Reflecting on the order and truth that is inherent in the Christian worldview is a springboard for the creation of art with depth, and that also incidentally carries a message of hope while not shying away from capturing the suffering that is part of the groaning creation and the human condition.
