IGCSE History

For Autumn 2026

In Year 1, students will begin this 2-year Cambridge iGCSE History course, which prepares high school learners for the official Cambridge IGCSE History examination, focusing on Option B: The Twentieth Century – International Relations since 1919 and Depth Study A: The First World War, 1914–18.

Age: 14-16+

Day & Time: Wednesdays 9:30-11 am UK Timezone (Two 40-minute sessions with a short break in the middle.)

Location: Zoom Meeting

Tutor: Goodness Astic

Prerequisite: KS3+ World Geography or equivalent.

Required Materials:  

• For Option B: The 20th Century and WW1 Depth Study:  Cambridge IGCSE and O Level History Option B & The 20th Century, 3rd Edition –  Course Book,
• Option B International Relations  Workbook
• Revision: Cambridge IGCSE and O Level History Study and Revision Guide, Second Edition- Study & Revision Guide.

IGCSE History Course Details

Students will explore the causes of global conflict, the search for peace, the rise of ideologies, and the impact of war on nations and individuals, while developing strong essay writing, source analysis, and critical thinking skills required for success in the IGCSE exams. The course is designed especially for home-educating families, with a balanced, thoughtful approach to history that encourages moral reflection, careful analysis, and respect for different perspectives.

IGCSE History Objectives and Outcomes.

By the end of the first year of this 2-year course, students will be well on their way in learning to:

• Understand the major international events of the twentieth century.
• Analysing historical sources and evidence confidently.
• Writing structured IGCSE essay answers.
• Explaining the causes and consequences of wars and conflicts.
• Evaluating different historical interpretations.
• Preparing for Cambridge IGCSE History Paper 1, Paper 2, and Paper 4

Upon completion of the 2 years, Students can choose to sit the Cambridge IGCSE History examination or gain US high school qualifications/credits for Social Studies.

 These form the core content for Paper 1.
