Day & Time: Tuesdays 4-5:30 pm GMT(Two 40-minute sessions with a short break in the middle.)
Location: Zoom Meeting
Tutor: Ashley Hibbard
Required Materials: None
Duration: 15 Weeks (starts in January 2026)
Age Group: Parents and youth (12+). This class will be open to students aged 12-13 with their parent. It will also be open to any student 14-17 with or without a parent, but parents are encouraged to attend. Course Objectives
- To understand how the richness of the Old Testament helps us as disciples of Jesus
- To be able to recognize the Hebrew alphabet and vowels, and sound out words
- To start to understand some of the theological richness of Hebrew words
- To understand the wisdom of the Old Testament cycles of work and rest and celebration
Course Highlights
- Family integrated learning will encourage students to make these topics a regular part of their daily family conversations
- Practical and fun project: adapt and celebrate an Old Testament festival together!
- Students will be well-prepared to begin a study of biblical Hebrew
Course Outcomes
Students and families will:
- find out if they would like to continue learning Biblical Hebrew or dive deeper into Biblical Studies
- be able to read and explain several major Hebrew words, and how they connect with New Testament/Christian themes.
- learn an appreciation for what it means to put God at the centre of both daily life, and celebrations.
- gain a better understanding of Biblical law, especially when it comes to books like Leviticus!
