Arise Tutor
Jo has an arts award advisor, tutor, and a home educating mother. Jo’s educational background includes a BA in Childhood and Youth Studies from the Open University, and her background before becoming a home educating mother was in Early Years education, childminding, and working in social care settings. She has many years of experience running arts and craft and activity sessions for children and young people from a range of backgrounds in different settings. She believes that all children can be enabled to enjoy the use of their God-given creative abilities and is a big advocate of play-based learning.
More About Jo
Jo is mum to four young people who, together with her husband, she has home educated since their pre-school years. Two teenagers are still home educated; one is off at university, and another also launching into adult life. She enjoys Guinea pigs, reading with her family, dog walking in the beautiful countryside of Angus, home making, arts and craft activities, and being involved with the local community.
Jo will be tutoring the Explore Arts Award for Arise. She and her husband Gavin have a home-based tuition and educational consultancy business, where they are developing educational support and activities for a wide age range of students. In addition to facilitating arts and craft activities for school-aged students, Jo is also interested in supporting home-based early years education.
