Understanding the Bible’s Big Picture

For many people, the Bible can feel like a collection of disconnected stories, verses, and teachings, especially since we’re often taught these parts in isolation rather than stepping back to see the big picture—the meta-narrative of the Bible. That’s where the Bible Survey class for young people 11+ comes in.
This course uses a variety of tools—songs, visual aids, and more— that act like pegs in the brain to help your teen “hang” the big picture of the Bible in their minds. By the end of the course, they will be able to think their way through the entire Bible, placing individual stories in context and understanding the specific genre of each book, which is essential for grasping the meaning of Scripture.
Explore The Core Themes of the Bible
We’ll explore the core themes of the Bible—the threads that weave through the whole Bible—and how the arc of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration shapes the narratives. The course will also focus on what each book teaches us about God, the Gospel, and how we can apply these principles to our own lives.
This Bible class for teens provides a broad base of knowledge, preparing young people to engage more deeply with theology in our Bible Survey class. With a solid understanding of the Bible’s overall structure and themes, students will be better equipped to grapple with individual passages and complex theological concepts.
Additionally, this course lays an excellent foundation for our Apologetics Year 1 and iGCSE Biblical Studies class. By giving teens a grasp of the key teachings, themes, and flow of the Bible—and showing how these relate to today’s big issues—it sets them on the path to having thoughtful, reasoned, and logical conversations about faith.
The Bible Survey class is designed to be the first step in a lifelong journey of learning, growing, and living out the truths of Scripture. Through this course, teens will develop study habits that will help them rightly handle the Word of God, ensuring they don’t pull verses out of context but build a worldview rooted in the full counsel of God.
