Description
Biblical Studies Year 2 (Cambridge O Level 2035)
For Autumn 2026
2035 Biblical Studies O Level – Year 2
Biblical Studies Year 2 will help students to understand and appreciate the whole story of the Bible and what it teaches about God (particularly, the Father and Jesus the Son). Through an examination of the New Testament, especially the Synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), we will see how Jesus lived
and what we taught, and what we learn from him about being his disciples. We will also spend time
looking at the complex historical and cultural context in which Jesus lived, and how that helps us to
understand better some of his teachings and miracles
In Year 1, students learned that the Christian faith and understanding of God is rooted in a collection of wonderful texts that record how God has instructed, corrected, warned, and comforted his people throughout history. This class will look at how different genres of scripture and moments of biblical history reveal different aspects of who our God is, while also appreciating how these texts contribute to the unified whole that we call ‘The Bible.’
Year 2 is a continuation of the required elements for the Cambridge O-level (equivalent to the iGCSE) exam. Students beginning in Year 2 will return next year for Year 1 content.
For students after 11-13, we recommend the KS3/Pre-iGCSE course Bible Survey.Â
