KS3 Mathematics
KS3 Mathematics Course Details
For Autumn 2026
KS3 Mathematics will build on the foundation laid in KS2 and prepare the student for iGCSE Maths in the future. This is done through the three core topic areas:
- Number
- Algebra, Geometry and Measure
- Statistics and Probability.
Age: Capable 10-year-old (turning 11 in the school year) – 14 years
Day & Time: All UK Timezones (Two 40-minute sessions with a short break in between)
- KS3 Yr 1/Year 7/P7/Grade 6 Maths – Thursdays 12:30-2 pm
- KS3 Yr 2/Year 8/S1/Grade 7 Maths – Thursdays 11 am-12:30 pm
- KS3 Yr 3/Year 9/S2/Grade 8 Maths – Mondays 11 am -12:30 pm
Location: Zoom Meeting
Tutors: Scott McDowell (Yr1 & Yr3) & Judy Thrasher (Yr2)

Functional Skills Maths Level 2
Functional Skills Maths Level 2
For Autumn 2026
The Functional Skills Maths Level 2 course will follow the Level 2 portion of the syllabus. Items listed in the Level 1 section are covered in the KS3 Maths classes, which are geared to a broad age range.
The course integrates engaging investigations, hands-on activities, and everyday applications, helping learners see the relevance of maths in daily life and decision-making whilst preparing them for the Functional Maths Exam.
In the class, we will complete the maths curriculum over two semesters (30 weeks total) in our live online sessions.
Age: 13-17
Day & Time: Wednesdays 12:30-2 pm UK Timezone (Two 40-minute sessions each week.)
Location: Zoom Meeting
Tutor: Judy Thrasher
Prerequisite:
- No formal prerequisites, but a basic understanding of numeracy and everyday maths concepts is recommended.
- KS3 Maths or equivalent preferred

The National 5 Applications of Maths Year 1 course provides a practical approach to mathematics, focusing on applying numeracy skills to real-world situations. Students will develop confidence in financial literacy, data analysis, measurement, statistics, and problem-solving. The course integrates engaging investigations, hands-on activities, and everyday applications, helping learners see the relevance of maths in daily life and decision-making.
In the class, we will complete the math curriculum over two semesters (30 weeks total) in our live online sessions.
Age: 14-16
Day & Time: Tuesdays 9:30-11 am UK Timezone (Two 40-minute sessions with a short break in between.)
Location: Zoom Meeting

Prerequisite:
- No formal prerequisites, but a basic understanding of numeracy and everyday maths concepts is recommended.
- KS3 Maths or equivalent preferred
Required Materials:
- National 5 Applications of Maths Textbook. No additional workbooks are required.
- Notebook and graph paper
- Access to basic spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets, or similar)

KS3 English Grammar & Writing, Year 1
KS3/ Pre-iGCSE English Grammar & Writing, Year 1
For Autumn 2026
We will use IEW – Ancient History and Fix It! Grammar – Town Mouse and Country Mouse, completing the first half of the Ancient History theme-based writing curriculum, and all of the Fix It! Grammar curriculum.
Pre-Requisites:
- Students should be able to write a single paragraph by hand or typed.
- Best suited for students aged 11-14 who have basic to intermediate English grammar and writing skills. Younger students will need tutor permission before registration.
Age: 11+
Day & Time: Tuesdays 11 am -12:30 pm UK Timezone (Two 40-minute sessions each week.)
